Turkish Occupation in Northern and Eastern Syria
The ongoing Turkish occupation in the northern and eastern regions of Syria has deeply impacted the area. According to statistics, the attacks have resulted in the loss of at least 8 civilians' lives and injuries to dozens of people in the city of Qamishlo; in Kobani, 2 individuals were also injured.
Similarly, on the second day, 22 different points came under attack. This time, the targets included once again service and vital areas, along with commercial establishments, but 10 of them also comprised security points.
Throughout the two days of attacks, Turkish UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) attacks took center stage. Notable points among the targets included a parking lot and company in Kobani, an industrial facility and construction center in Qamishlo, Sîmav Printing House, a train station, Rohlat Olive Oil Factory, Cizire Feed Factory, tailoring businesses in the Mesilon neighborhood, a wedding hall in the Amuda district, and important areas such as Mustefa Nur Hospital.
On the other hand, the Media Department of the Democratic Autonomous Administration shared the balance sheet of Turkey's attacks on northern and eastern Syria on 26/12/2023. The brutal attacks carried out by the Turkish occupation were directed towards civilian vital facilities. UAV attacks were conducted with heavy weapons and artillery fire.
The attacks targeted the cities and surroundings of Qamishlo and Kobani. Among the attacks in Qamishlo were important places like the Covid/Coronavirus hospital, construction company, and the Alaya neighborhood. Targets in Kobani included control points at the city's entrance, internal security forces' control point, and various villages.
The Turkish occupation also attacked the Şehba region and the rural areas of eastern Afrin, targeting various villages and towns in these attacks.
While the Turkish occupation continues its attacks on various regions in northern and eastern Syria, the silence of the international community persists. These attacks, causing material and human losses in the region, have yet to see a concrete step from the international coalition and Russia, who guaranteed a ceasefire.
How much longer will the effective international powers in Syria wait to intervene in the situation? We will see together.
